“If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.”
Will Rogers - cowboy, humorist, newspaper columnist, and social commentator
Hello, my name is Bob – why is this site called Vickie Lynn’s Home Pet Care then? Because Vickie, who was my wife and partner since 1988, lost her life to cancer in 2016. Vickie had owned and cared for animals her entire life, and back in 2002 she started this business because she recognized that our neighborhood needed a dedicated and professional local pet care person; one that lived in the heart of the historical Heights and would serve our neighborhood (and surrounding area) only.
From 1995-2011 I worked at NASA/Johnson Space Center as a graphic artist/designer, but unfortunately, when the STS shuttle program was shut down, so was my job. So what do I know about dogs and cats? Since our marriage began Vickie and I owned both (along with hermit crabs and a 65gal fish tank), and I often helped Vickie evenings and weekends, becoming a happy dog walker. So it was only natural that soon after my layoff I joined her as a fulltime partner. We added daycare and boarding to our offered services,
opening up our home and large, fenced in front and back yard to our four-legged guests, becoming a canine B&B - no kenneling, just bring your bed, food, and jammies! Come to think of it, there hasn't been a day since that I haven't spent hanging out and interacting with dogs and/or cats - all ages, all sizes, and all breeds. Over the years I have just about seen and dealt with it all, and have yet to encounter a dog that I can't build a trusting relationship with. I treat, love, and respect all animals like my own. All those featured on this site are past or present longtime and happy clients.
After Vickie’s passing, I sold our house but stayed in the neighborhood I’ve known and loved for over 20 years. I relocated to a nice apartment at Yale and 22nd, where I continue the business and its reputation, along with my happy partner, Jake, an SPCA mutt seen below who keeps life fun and interesting!
